About the Choir

In 2010 we became an independent choir, after previously being The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra Community Choir.  This friendly choir has members of all ages, from all walks of life, and from all areas of Merseyside. 

Rehearsals are held during term time once a week on Thursday from 6.30pm until 8.30pm.

Our contemporary repertoire draws from popular music from the 20th and 21st centuries. The choir is led by our musical director Ian Davidson.

Ian is a LIPA singing teacher, leading vocal coach, choir conductor and vocalist who has taught and produced music all around the world. His impressive track record includes founding member of “Vocology in Practice”, lecturer in vocals at the Institute of the Arts, Barcelona, backing singer for international artist
Sandi Thom and conductor of the Love and Joy Gospel Choir.

Booking a Choir Performance

The choir has worked to help raise money for national and local charities and perform in support of numerous local organisations, and corporate companies in venues ranging from the Liverpool Cathedrals, churches, parks, theatres and private & public business functions and events.

The choir performs a Summer and Christmas repertoire. We play concerts in and around Liverpool and are open to suggestions for new projects. We have supported national touring theatre productions as well as city events such as Light Night and the Tall Ships Event. We are not normally available for weddings or funerals.

Join the Choir

Any adult (18+) is welcome to join the choir – whatever your age or experience. There’s no audition & you don’t have to read music but it’s available if you prefer it.

As a community choir, we always want to keep the subs as low as possible to enable as many members as possible to join us – our ethos is to make singing accessible for everyone, regardless of musical experience or depth of pocket.

Choir subs are £60 per term (three terms a year), which continues to represent excellent value, payable in advance.
We are looking into offering a monthly payment scheme in the future to help spread the cost.
